Maravilla Construction Begins in September 2010

Maravilla Scottsdale, a luxury retirement community that has been delayed, is completing work on its underground garage and plans to start its main building by mid-September.

The 217-unit community is on about 25 acres adjacent to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort northeast of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

The Senior Resource Group LLC plans to complete Maravilla by March 2012, said Michael Grust, president and chief executive of the Solana Beach, Calif., company. Read more…

Three New Communities For Seniors Coming to Scottsdale

The median age of Scottsdale residents is 41, according to the most recent census. Almost 30% of the city’s 230,293 residents are older than 55, and an additional 31% are 35 to 54. Developers are taking notice – there are three new luxury retirement communities opening next year. In additional to the more than 600 units from these communities, an additional 1,400 units are on the drawing board. Read more…

Luxury retirement community set for north Scottsdale, an article from the East Valley Tribune, reports that according to Katherine Hutton, Scottsdale’s economic vitality department director, demand for luxury projects is rising as the population ages. Hutton said, "You’re dealing with a generation that over time has amassed more wealth than any other generation before them."
